It has been announced this week that three Cedar Fair theme parks will no longer be operating year-round beginning in 2024. These three parks include Carowinds, California’s Great America And Kings Dominion.
If you now view the calendar and opening hours for Carowinds for 2024 you can see that it states “closed” on all days throughout January and February with the first date available being Saturday March 9, 10AM – 8PM then from the following week the park will open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Cedar Fair only moved to year-round operations at Carowinds, California’s Great America And Kings Dominion in 2023 and it appears that the decision to make the move back to closing these three parks during January and February is down to attendance figures and unpredictability of the weather meaning on certain of the dates when the park should have been open, the decision had to be made to close or close early.

The decision by Cedar Fair to cease year-round operations at Carowinds, California’s Great America And Kings Dominion certainly seems to be a sensible one and when the parks officially shut down at the end of December guests will be able to look forward to them reopening in March 2024.
