Special floats in Castaway Creek
Cast Members start releasing special character-themed floats into the lazy river, Castaway Creek, just before the party starts.
The Board Room is the center of H2O fun
The Board Room, pictured above, is the center of H2O party fun. There is a DJ that begins playing as the clock strikes 8 o’clock. We were only there a few minutes and heard some tunes from High School Musical and Lizzie McGuire.
Chip & Dale at H2O Glow Nights
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers were introduced by the DJ at the start of the party and then were dancing with guests in the sand at the foot of the stage.
Powerline during his H2O intro
Powerline was the star of the short show! He was stationed near Leaning Palms and Happy Landings just behind the Board Room walkway. This is also where Launchpad McQuack and Scrooge McDuck meet fans.
Cast Members blocking the entrance to the Surf Pool when lightning was in the area
We got a warning from our Weather Bug app (not an endorsement, just what we use) that lightning was in the area at 8:19pm, just 19 minutes into the event. Seconds later all attractions were closed, the DJ stopped playing, characters were taken backstage, and guests were advised to take shelter.
Any guests in a Beachcomber Shacks were allowed to remain in their accommodations, but everyone else was directed to shops or other covered areas out of the water.
We hung out for a few minutes to see if the storm would pass quickly and then decided to call it a night. The image at the top of this post shows the line forming at guest services at 9:05pm. We joined the line and were told that we could request a ticket for another H2O Glow Nights, but would not get a refund.
Guests not wanting to stay in line during the storm were told to return to Typhoon Lagoon the next day to request help with their ticket.
Disney’s H2O Glow ticket site says: “Water parks are subject to weather closures and attractions are subject to change due to inclement weather or other reasons.” There is also a bold “Tickets are nontransferable and nonrefundable” note on the page.
It’s important to note that we were not asked to leave. The park did not close when we were there.
What do you think? Would you have stayed to wait out the lightning?
