Stella Nova two queen bed room.

Stella Nova is a colorful tower hotel with 750 rooms. This resort has only one type of room: a 315-square-foot room with two queen beds and a small seating area. Like many new hotel rooms, the white walls have minimal decorations or theming outside of the large space art piece above the beds on the accent wall. The floors are fake wood vinyl with an accent rug under the beds.

The lighting is plentiful with two accent lights next to the TV, lighting in the curtain fixture, lighting from the art piece, and a table lamp. Phew.  The window is not floor-to-ceiling like many new builds, instead, it is a futuristic oval with a tint applied to the outside. The views of Epic Universe are fantastic if you book a theme park view.

The bathroom is on the right, the vanity is in the center, and the partition is on the right.

Shower with bathtub. Roll-in showers and walk-in showers are also available

The bathroom has one large vanity with one sink that is open to the rest of the room. The toilet and bath are in a separate room with a door (not sliding!) which allows one person to shower while another person people to uses the sink in the morning. Speaking of bathing, rooms come either with a bath (see above), a walk-in shower, or a roll-in ADA shower. Shampoo and body wash bottles are now mounted on the bath wall.

Mini fridge.

Coffee maker and ice bucket.

Pop-up power and USB ports in the desk.

Praise be Botanicus, all rooms come with a mini fridge. The fridge is large enough for two 2-liter bottles, milk, and bottled water but not much more. We’re a fan of eating breakfast in the room before departing for the parks, but it’s also a boon for folks who require refrigerated medication. Rooms also come with a coffee maker and coffee packets, godspeed. The 52″ flat-screen television features basic and some premium cable channels, log-ins for app-based services, and on-demand video content.

Our crew also performed the full bedding inspection and was happy with what they found. The bed is a new and high quality Sealy mattress, there were numerous bed covers for comfort and hygiene, a bed sheet, and several blankets and sheets for sleeping. Unfortuantley the pillows did not live up to the same plush expectations, Chrissy compared them to the thickness of a handful of napkins. I’m a fan of plush pillows so I’m expecting to need at least three of these “pillows” to satisfy my sleeping needs.

Now for what you all came here for, the sound tests! As a semi-light sleeper, this test is pretty critical to my enjoyment of a room. The results for Stella Nova are mixed—the room we tested standing noise level was 40 dB, a normal suburban hotel room at night per Yale EHS. The first sound test we performed was the Len Testa Crazy Train Procedure of setting the initial screams of Crazy Train by Ozzy to 70 dB per the sound meter and then playing Ozzy outside the room door, our measurements hovered around 50 dB depending on the guitar solo (see above). Our crew then turned the A/C down to 64 *F and found the A/C reached 52 dB, which is comparable to a home refrigerator, which wasn’t a problem for them but could be for light sleepers like me.
