Lookout Cay or Castaway Cay on a Disney cruise? Then here’s what you’ll want to know about these areas reserved for those 18 and older.
You’ll find the same basic amenities at Serenity Bay as you will on the family beaches. Just like the rest of the island, all you need to bring is your Key to the World Card, your sunscreen, and your bathing suit. There’s no fee to visit Serenity Bay. Lounge chairs, shorty beach chairs, and umbrellas provide space to relax on the sand, and towels are provided. But in keeping with the quieter vibe, there are no splash zones or family-play areas.
Dining and refreshment options are similar to those elsewhere on the islands. The provided lunch at Serenity Bay BBQ on Castaway Cay has the same options as Cookie’s. And the meal at Serenity Bay BBQ on Lookout Cay is the same menu as True-True BBQ. Each Serenity Bay has a bar: the Castaway Air Bar at Castaway Cay and the Blue Hole Bar on Lookout Cay. While you may find kids in the bar seating elsewhere on the island, you obviously won’t see them at these bars in the 18+ areas.

For even more privacy, cabanas are available at Serenity Bay in both ports. The Castaway Cay cabanas in Serenity Bay are very private. The Serenity Bay cabanas at Lookout Cay are a little more exposed to foot traffic. Cabanas can be difficult to book for the average Disney cruiser because concierge staterooms and Pearl Level Castaway Club members get first crack at reserving all activities, including cabanas. Chances are, if you have the status to book a cabana, you’re not reading this article. But maybe someday!
Cabana on Castaway Cay
Serenity Bay is at one of the farthest points from the ship on both Lookout Cay and Castaway Cay. To get to Serenity Bay on Castaway Cay, you need to get off the tram at the Pelican Point stop and then board the tram for Serenity Bay. While this is a bit confusing (and takes some extra time), it helps to make sure that families and kids don’t end up at Serenity Bay by mistake. On Lookout Cay, the Serenity Bay beach is at the end of the family beach, separated by cones and a sign. But the Serenity Bay beach is long enough that it’s not hard to get away from the bustle of the family beach.
One last note: you don’t need to be traveling without your kids to experience Serenity Bay. Both Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay have extensions of the Oceaneer clubs found aboard. If you’re looking for some adult beach time, your kids can hang out with the Youth Activities staff while you head to Serenity Bay.
