Citywalk is the very first part of the Universal Orlando experience most guests will have when making their way to Islands of Adventure or Universal Studios Florida, as it is directly connected to both parks.
Citywalk is home to an amazing variety of table service restaurants including; Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar, VIVO Italian Kitchen, Hard Rock Cafe, NBC Grill & Brew, Bob Marley- A Tribute to Freedom, Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Co., Pat O’Briens, Bigfire American Fare, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville…

For quick service venues Citywalk has Starbucks, Cold Stone Creamery, Burger King, Panda Express, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Hot Dog Hall of Fame, Bend the Bao, Bread Box Hand Crafted Sandwhiches, Red Oven Pizza Bakery, a variety of water side outdoor kitchens, and of course, the iconic VooDoo Doughnut.
Citywalk is home to one of my favorite mini-golf courses in all of Orlando with Hollywood Drive-In Golf (which we’ll be doing an entire article in the near future.)
Along with an escape room at Universal’s Great Movie Escape (featuring rooms based on Back to the Future and Jurassic World)…

…and the Universal Cinemark Movie Theater complex.
Over the last few years, Universal has taken complete control over the shopping aspect of Citywalk. Previously there was a variety of third party stores, but now the main stores are owned and operated by Universal. So not only can you buy merchandise featuring all the brands and characters from inside the parks, there’s even a Buttebeer Bar!

That’s right, Citywalk is one of the only places in America you can get an official Wizarding World of Harry Potter Butterbeer without purchasing a theme park ticket.

The Red Coconut Club is now primarily used in seasonal overlays, including the Green & Red Coconut Club for Christmas, the Dead Coconut Club during Halloween Horror Nights, and the Cursed Coconut Club for Mardi Gras.
There’s also a couple places on my list of Things I’ll Probably Never Do. This includes a karaoke bar (Rising Star) along with Hart & Huntington Tattoo Company.
# 5 – Citywalk’s New Mobile Delivery
Earlier this month Universal Citywalk introduced an innovation to quick service dining which may be a complete game changer. It allows guests to not just mobile order from selected Citywalk restaurants, but to get it delivered to their table.
The four quick service restaurants included right now in the program are all Universal operated venues. The group includes Bread Box Handcrafted Sandwiches…

…and Hot Dog Hall of Fame.

# 4 – Seating
There is a large variety of outdoor seating at Citywalk, but as of this writing the only area which has the option of mobile delivery is on the second level outside of Burger King/Moe’s Southwest Grill/Movie Theater.

There are many tables available, and the ones which have the mobile delivery option have a sticker on them with the QR codes we pictured above.
# 3 – The Ordering
Clicking on the QR codes will lead you to the Universal Orlando app. The good news is that – similar to Disney – Universal’s app when it comes to ordering food is extremely user friendly and easy to navigate.
We first decided on getting a pizza delivery from Red Oven.
The app guides you through the steps. At the top of the screen you can select “Pickup” or Table Delivery. Once you select Table Delivery, it will ask for you table number.
The tag for this table number is in the direct middle of the QR codes sticker. Or you can manually type the table number into the app.
Because we were doing this for the honor of science (at least that’s what we’re telling Len Testa) we also immediately placed an order with Bread Box Handcrafted Sandwiches to test the speed of the deliveries.
# 2 – The Delivery
The order for Red Oven was placed at 11:53AM. The order for Bread Box was placed at 11:55AM.
The Bread Box order was delivered at 12:04PM. In all fairness, our table was located mere steps away from the restaurant.
While there were two forks included with the delivery, there were no plates or napkins in the bag.
The Red Oven pizza delivery arrived immediately afterwards.
The Red Oven bag included utensils, napkins, plates, and packets of Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes.
# 1 – The Results
Granted, we didn’t conduct this experiment during the busiest week of the year, but you certainly can’t complain about ordering and getting your food delivered in under 15 minutes. This concept is perfect for my family, because while I’m a “pizza guy” (always and forever) the rest of the family generally wants to try something different now and then. So instead of me running around to multiple places while they camp out at a table, we can all be together and relax. I imagine this would be a doubly good feature for anyone traveling as a solo adult with kids.
As for the food, there was zero drop off in quality in terms of delivery compared to all the times I’ve eaten in person at these venues.
Stagione – ground beef, tomato sauce, mozzarella, caramelized onions, roasted peppers, garlic aioli.
Red Oven Pizza Bakery is still pound for pound the best pizza in the theme park corridor in terms of value combined with taste. I love Via Napoli as much as anyone, but Red Oven pies don’t cost $50 and you also don’t have to make an ADR 60 days in advance when you’re craving one.
Pizza Moon will be taking the top slot on our list once Epic Universe is open to Annual Passholders, but for right now Red Oven remains the King.
Now let’s check out our order from Bread Box. Starting with the Turkey Pastrami.
Turkey Pastrami – White cheddar, tomato, bacon, Dijonnaise and grilled onions on light rye.
What I love about Bread Box is that they offer Tater Tots along with French Fries. In my exhaustive, decades-long study calculating the best type of fried potatoes, seasoned Crinkle Cut get the top spot, but a well cooked Tater Tot is right below it.
We also got the
Italian – Ham, calabrese salami, big eye pepperoni, provolone, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pepperoncini peppers, herbed oil and vinegar and Duke’s mayo on a house baked roll.
Bread Box gives you the option of removing the side of fries and replacing with a fruit cup, which we did for you, Dear Reader, because it made for a better photo. Why else would ANYONE get a fruit cup instead of French fries or Tater Tots?
The other restaurants you can order delivery items from includes Bend the Bao. This restaurant has hands down the best themed packaging in all of Citywalk.

While I’m not a “bao guy,” all reviews from Bend the Bao have been extremely positive from my friends.

On the other hand, Hot Dog Hall of Fame is my jam, and if Red Oven Pizza Bakery didn’t exist I would probably find myself getting items here more often than not.
Hot Dog Hall of Fame recently added a new dog to their menu.
Seattle Dog – Hebrew National hot dog with smoked onion spread, sauerkraut, jalapeños, sriracha hot chili sauce, a layer of potato stick.
There is even a Vegan dog option.
Vegan Field Dog – Field Roast dog with roasted corn, jalapeño veganaise, vegan cheese, ancho chile, micro cilantro, fresh lime on a hoagie roll.
