Now streaming on Disney+, set sail on a brand-new adventure as Season 3 of Behind the Attraction charts a bold course into the world of Disney Cruise Line. In this special two-episode event, the series turns its focus to the storytelling, innovation, and immersive experiences that have helped redefine vacations at sea.

Here is what Founder and CEO of The Nacelle Company, Brian Volk-Weiss, who executive produced and directed the series, had to say about the experience.

“It has been the honor and utter joy of my career to work with Disney on Behind the Attraction. To be given the trust of Disney Cruise Line to tell their incredible story in season 3, alongside the brilliant Imagineers and crew, has been beyond anything I could have expected in this blessed career. As someone who’s been going to Disney parks since I was 3, sailing the seas on some of the greatest cruise ships on the planet, from the Disney Magic to the Disney Destiny, has been as exciting as the pure bliss we feel adding another chapter to the Behind the Attraction universe of stories.”

Executive Producer of the series and co-Founder and co-CEO of Seven Bucks Productions, Dany Garcia, says, “Disney has always understood that storytelling becomes even more magical when people are invited into its universe for an experience, and Disney Cruise Line is a remarkable example of that vision. As producers, we were drawn to the incredible ingenuity and design that transformed an idea into a defining fleet. Some of my family’s most meaningful memories were created aboard Disney cruises, and this season shines a light on the innovation and craftsmanship that have made those moments possible for families across generations.”

Disney Cruise Line Fun Fact:

Walt Disney was a passionate cruiser who enjoyed spending time at sea with his wife, Lillian. After the success of his growing animation studio, Walt took what was considered his first true vacation aboard a cruise ship in 1931, embracing the adventure, relaxation, and sense of discovery that came with ocean travel.

Here, you can learn more about how Disney has continued to prioritize preserving the natural beauty and environment of Disney Castaway Cay (Disney’s private island destination in The Bahamas), while on board, Disney has combined the excitement of experiencing a new, themed restaurant each night with its signature service, an experience they like to call Rotational Dining.

While every cruise is different, eagle-eyed explorers may even notice that each ship’s overall color scheme pays tribute to Disney’s most famous character, with deep blue hulls, bright yellow lifeboats, white paint, and touches of red mirroring the classic colors of Mickey Mouse. Longtime fans may even recognize Disney Legend and former Imagineer Wing T. Chao in this kickoff episode, a visionary leader who helped lead the design efforts for the first ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet (the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder).

The Disney Magic and Disney Wonder may have been the ones that started it all in the late 1990’s, but Disney Cruise Line has expanded into a global fleet of eight ships that welcomes families from around the world.
