Rumor: Universal Epic Universe’s first expansion appears to be underway, and a likely candidate for that space? A possible new Wizarding World of Harry Potter ride joining the Battle at the Ministry. Nothing is confirmed, but all signs point to Universal laying the groundwork for something big, somewhere.

Universal Studios Orlando’s brand new “Epic Universe” theme park has faced some criticism for not having enough attractions, and this permit may be a hint at the first ride expansion.
A new permit filing for 1001 Epic Blvd, Orlando, FL (Universal South Campus – Plat 2) calls for utility and foundation work for a 150,000-sq-ft addition. That’s almost the same footprint as Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, indicating a very large building. The size also happens to line up with an empty plot behind the walls of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic section of Epic Universe.
Early concept rumors suggested that the Wizarding World was intended to have two attractions, one in this space, which is why fans may think it is a ride expansion for this area. The 150,000 sq ft size fits a major show building.
Of course, other areas can be drawn up with a similar-sized plot, but it’s hard to ignore the precise size that fits this empty lot.
In this location, work can also take place behind the facades of Wizarding World without spoiling the “new” feel of the park. The last thing guests want is to see construction walls as they enjoy a brand-new park.
Officially, the permit only lists utilities and foundation work, no mention of a ride, but the footprint and size make it hard to ignore the possibility of a major new attraction.
