Construction is steadily moving forward on the upcoming “Fast & Furious: Orlando Drift” roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida, as new track pieces have officially begun to appear on-site. The 170-foot-tall attraction, which is replacing the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, is quickly taking shape behind the park’s New York section.

Crews have started installing both supports and track near the future station and maintenance areas, marking a major milestone in the ride’s development. Additional station components and more complex ride elements continue to arrive at a staging area near Universal Epic Universe, where they are prepared before being transported to the construction site. With materials now being moved daily, construction is expected to accelerate significantly in the coming months.

While the full layout of the coaster has not yet been officially revealed, several key features have already been confirmed. The ride will be manufactured by Intamin and will include spinning ride vehicles capable of a controlled “drift” motion, similar to what’s planned for its counterpart at Universal Studios Hollywood. One of the most notable elements will be a switch track leading into a multi-launch section, adding a dynamic and unpredictable experience for riders.

Perhaps the most eye-catching feature will be the towering “CityWalk spike,” a vertical element designed to dominate the skyline near Universal CityWalk Orlando. This signature moment is expected to become a defining visual for the park once completed.

Set to open in 2027, Fast & Furious: Orlando Drift is already shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated roller coasters in development, promising a blend of innovative technology and high-speed thrills as construction continues to gain momentum.
