TDR Explorer, who tried it on the second sailing, to get their impressions.  Here’s what they said!
Did you book immediately after boarding? – Yes, we booked by calling Guest Services as soon as we got to our stateroom.

Did it seem to be sold out? – It wasn’t overcrowded, but we are unsure if that was because it was undersold or only sold to the seated capacity of the deck. Every person in the area had a seat (first-come, first-served for location, and further back is better).
What was the cost? – $49 per person, charged to our onboard account.

What desserts and drinks did you get? – Desserts included chocolate-covered strawberries, various flavored macarons, and small individual tarts served canape style by roaming servers. No one in our group drank alcohol, but we were able to get an unlimited specialty juice option. It seemed like alcoholic options included unlimited sparkling wine and basic beer.
Did you feel like it was worth it? – For someone who drinks alcohol, we think they could get “value” from the offering at the $49 price point we paid. There’s obviously no shortage of complimentary sweets and desserts available around the ship, so there’s not much value to be had there, but not having to deal with the extreme crowds on the open decks was worth it to us. The package also included a generic Simba trading pin, which would have a merchandise value of around $15-16.

Would you do it again? – 100% if we are planning to see The Lion King Celebration in the Sky, we will only watch it with the dessert party package. The view was perfect, and the dessert offerings were appreciated.
Is there anything else you want to add or feel like people should know? – If you have the late dining assignment, it’s really important to let your service team know you have the experience booked and need to be finished with dinner by 9:40ish so you can be there to check in by 10 pm. Otherwise, you may not get the best choice of seating in the area.
Thanks for the review TDR Explorer! I’ll be very interested to see where this goes. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Disney brings this idea to the other ships in the fleet, but I’m really hoping this is a one-off!  It’s a slippery slope of add-ons for Disney Cruise Line to head down!
